    Job title: Social worker

    Reporting to: Director of Sponsorship

    Hours: this is a full time position

    Location: Kabuga with frequent travel around Kigali and upcountry.

    Principal Responsibilities: The social worker will provide social services and assistance to improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families in order to maximize the family well-being and the academic performance of children He/she might work with the following groups: The elderly, people with learning and physical disabilities, young offenders, and people with mental health conditions, school droppers, drugs and alcohol abusers His/her tasks typically involve:

    •  implement partner’s child protection policy
    •  conducting home and school visits and doing interviews with individuals and families to assess and review their situation
    •  Identifying, reporting and following up on child abuse or any kind of abuse arising in the beneficiaries.
    •  undertaking and writing up assessments (sometimes in collaboration with other professionals), which meet specified standards and timescales
    •  Offering information and support to the sponsorship department.
    •  Working closely with student’s teachers and work with the children to improve their school performance.
    •  organizing and managing packages of support to enable people to lead the fullest lives possible
    •  recommending and sometimes making decisions about the best course of action for a particular child or family
    •  liaising with, and making referrals to other agencies
    •  participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings regarding, for example, child protection or mental health
    •  maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for legal action
    •  Participating in training, supervision and team meetings.

    Qualification and experience

    •  A Bachelor’s Degree in social work, rural development or related studies
    •  3 years working experience of which 2 years are relevant experience at expert level in social work/community development/social expertise or related discipline.
    •  Computer literacy and proficiency in MS office package
