Handicap International Federation, which runs programmes under its operational name "HUMANITY &INCLUSION" intervenes in the following areas in Rwanda since 1994 :
o Health, prevention and rehabilitation
o Socio-economic inclusion, education and citizen participation
o Prevention and protection against gender, age and disability based violence
In order to strengthen its capacity, HI recruits for its Strategic and Technical Unit an Accessibility Development and Management Specialist in the context of a salaried position.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of the Strategic and Technical Coordinator and supported by the HI Technical Advisor in charge of Accessibility, based at HI Headquarter, the Accessibility Development and Management Specialist (ADMS) will :
• provide technical expertise for the development and management of the physical accessibility, as per standards set internationally (ISO) and nationally (by the Rwanda Housing Authority).
• carry out capacity building on accessibility, technical and advisory support and supervision to ensure all construction activities and office facilities are respecting norms and standards of accessibility and are done in compliance with the project’s goals and objectives.
• be in charge of the day to day supervision, ensuring the overall efficiency.
• be accountable for providing technical assistance to HI Rwanda Programme, including inputs to the development of accessibility policies, guidelines and propose strategies for properly maintaining accessibility standards on both HI offices and on the construction facilities funded by HI.
She/he will act in collaboration with the Operational Coordinators, the Support Service Coordinator, the Logistic Department, the Project Managers, the project teams and members of the Strategic and Technical Unit. He/she will be based in Kigali with regular field visits in provinces.
EXPECTED PROFILE
Required qualification | Degree (s) | Advanced university degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture or other relevant technical area. |
Experiences: | .At least 5 years of experience in civil engineering construction. • Experience in the field of accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities. |
